Vichy Dermablend Corrective Foundation Review

Hi!

Todays post will be a review, this foundation is a wonderful invention! I first heard about it when I was watching Juicytuesday's videos on youtube, (if you haven't watched her yet then go now! >http://www.youtube.com/user/juicytuesday ) She is my absolute favourite youtube guru because everything She says is perfect advice for me. Anyway back to the review, so my skin is currently teenage skin although it is getting better, I still get breakouts especially really bad hormonal ones and its just awful. I have been searching for the perfect foundation for years now. I started when I was fourteen and I still have yet to accomplish my goal. However, the Vichy Dermablend is incredibly close to becoming my number 1. It is fantastic coverage and evens out my skin tone easily. My skin is very red naturally so I need something that will cover up my redness or even it out. I have tried primers to help with this problem but the foundation is much better for that I have found. The Vichy Dermablend has SPF in it and it's designed for people with quite severe skin problems and conditions. I decided to try it last year so I think this review can be trusted as I have been wearing it for a long time since March 2011! When I went to Boots to get it I explained to the Lady and immediately She agreed with me about how good the foundation is. Normally, sales people often try to sway you towards other products but the fact She didn't even argue made me even more anxious to try it. It literally is like war paint, you need the tiniest amount. It covers everything so I often apply a darker powder over top just to add some more colour to my skin. When your face is all one colour it can look a bit washed out and unnatural so its good to add some what of a glow back into your cheeks. I recommend using some bronzer, a highlight and a kind of light pink blush. It looks good with the shade I use 15 Opal which is the palest as I am very, very pale.

To apply just squirt a teeny tiny amount on the back of your hand and dab it on your forehead, cheeks, nose and chin. Then blend! blend! blend!

For me, this foundation does last a long time as I wore it when I went to Paris and it stayed on all day and I never had to reapply. The only real problem I have with this foundation is the fact that when I wear to it work often I have breakouts from all of the heat. I think because this foundation is so thick that I guess it could quite easily block pores more than other foundations. This is the only foundation that I've had a problem with breakouts at work. Yet, that could just be my over sensitive skin so perhaps it's more suited for others. I still wear it quite frequently especially on nights out with my friends clubbing or when I know for sure there will be photographs at an event because it masks all of the imperfections and makes my skin look almost photoshopped in comparison.

Currently, I am now in search of a foundation just like the dermablend but one that I can wear at work and it not feel so thick on. Perhaps it would be a miracle to find a foundation that doesn't do that because of how thick it is. I must also urge you all to take into account that this foundation is made for people with scarring and other skin situations so it's meant to be thick as it is a corrective foundation. Another tip is to use this as a concealer, I haven't really looked into any other Vichy products other than the skincare which is fabulous. There are other Vichy Foundations that might be better or more suited for other skin types but this is the most well known and popular from the research I have done.

To conclude, I fully recommend this foundation it's great for coverage and if you want full coverage then this is a definite winner. I also recommend Mac Studio Sculpt Foundation I use the shade NC15 which is paler than the dermablend. I will eventually do a review on that. I also feel that I should say that often I switch up my foundations and have several that I use regularly especially since the dermablend is sometimes too heavy for casual day wear or on a good skin day. I use lighter foundations such as the Rimmel Wake me up Foundation and the Loreal True Match. I think it's a good idea to frequently experiment and try new foundations. I also recommend having several from the drugstore and from more higher end brands. Often some are just as good as each other, yet I believe that you should spend the most money on your skin products so moisturiser and foundation, possibly primer if you use one. If you can afford it also you really should invest in a good eye cream or gel as the skin around your eyes is so sensitive and needs extra care and protection.

Hope you enjoyed this review, I haven't written for about 3 months since I left College so I'm a little rusty! haha but good luck with foundation and skin care! I really want everyone to try the Vichy Dermablend because despite the negative aspects of this review it most DEFINITELY is my favourite right now and the most reliable foundation for me.

Thanks for reading!
